Armor Class Clarification

Postby Ninijutsu » Sun Nov 13, 2011 1:41 am

So if I have X/Y armor class, and somebody hits me for less than X damage, absolutely nothing will happen to me or my armor?

EDIT:

Also, how much damage do boars and foxes do with max attack bar?
Of another era.

Yes, however punch has a 30% armor penetration and axes have 5% (animals have 30% as well i think). Dunno about ur second question, and it can't really be answered because it depends on how much defense and defensive weight you have ;)

Thought it was only the B12 that had armor penetration.

If someone hits you for X damage, then Y damage is going to be soaked and the remaining will be dealt to the armor (assuming no damage penetration as clark posted).

Stone axe does too, but it's damage is so low it's pretty pointless anyways.

Just incase someone ends up searching to understand Armor Class, here's the rundown of it.

Any piece of armor has 3 values: Hitpoints, and AC X/Y

The Hitpoints goes up linearly with quality, and the AC goes up exponentially (Q40 is twice as effective as Q10, Q90 is three times...)

the X value is the "deflection" value, meaning the value which the armor piece will mitigate without anything changing (the damage gets "deflected")
the Y value is the "absorption" value, meaning the value which the armor piece will mitigate while removing this damage value from the armor's hitpoints (the damage gets "absorbed by the armor")

Example time!

Situation: Timmy has recently purchased a quality 40 bronze plate, which has 2000 hitpoints and an armor class of 200/200
Now Jimmy has a mean friend named Reginald. Reginald planned to backstab Jimmy. Luckily Jimmy bought this plate.

Reginald did a first attack, dealing only 167 damage. All 167 damage was deflected. No damage to the armor
Reginald then proceeded to do a second attack, managing to hit for 348 damage. 200 was deflected, and 148 was absorbed by the armor. The plate now lost 148 health
Reginald got lucky and somehow dealt a hit of 402 damage. 200 was deflected, 200 was absorbed, and 2 damage hit Jimmy's SHP. The plate lost 200 health, and Jimmy lost 2 SHP.

If anyone wants some clarifications with my example, feel free to ask.
