How can I play with my friend

Me and my friend want to play together,but we've been travelling for 3 hours trying to meet eachother,is there any way we can get together without this walk?

Spawn by hearth secret.

Get a village totem up, invite the other person to the village, person away from village destroys hearth fire, then finally travels to village.

if hes not advanced enough to know about HS hes not advanced enough that a restart will hurt him...and thats way quicker than finding yourself on the map, I never did find myself last world.

(elaborating on what Onion said)set a hearth secret, give it to your friend and have him create a new character and say it to the creepy guy in the corner. when he walks down the stairs his hf will be near yours.

Note: your hearth fire MUST be outside for anyone to spawn at it. Treat your hearth secret just like any password and otherwise keep your hearth fire indoors when possible for security reasons.

doesn't have to be outside. it said there was no room near my hf the first 12(?) times I tried to spawn my alt, but he spawned eventually.
