Skill not working properly? pls help

Yesterday I started to play this game with my friend and I must say we find it awesome though there is one thing that disturbs us. If you can pls tell us what to do we would be very thankful.
So the problem is that my friend is unable to create some things even though he should be able to.. I think it starts with the Bone Saw. hes not able to craft it but he has learned Primitive tools skill and many other skills. he posses a bone and a branch but theres no way he could create it... and maybe because of this he also lacks the curiosities craft option which is quite bad for playing. Maybe we have done some mistake but I checked it and searched for it a lot and I didnt manage to find out how to fix this problem of my friends. I trust somebody can help us =)

Your friend will have to discover some stuff on his own, instead of getting everything from you

so the problem is he did not discovered a bone. because im not giving him everything. a bone is the only thing he havent discovered yet thanks a lot
