I think by generate map he means generate a world? This is not Dwarf Fortress or Minecraft dude, you are confused.

No, its completely different. The map generation for HnH you saw is to generate a picture of the explored tiles in the game. I know what youre trying to say but there is no way to create a server for single player use. The main server you connect to is the only one.

Well, if you're up to doing the coding and have half a clue as to how to create the server side of a client/server system, then you can create your own world. In fact, Jorb and Loftar have clearly stated that if players were to do this, that they might themselves enjoy the inspired creation.

If you want a single player version of HnH, UnReal World is pretty good and really cheap ($3 US if I recall right). Otherwise, Haven and Hearth is an MMO. Part of that means it's a persistent world where there really isn't a limit to the number of people that can play at once. Minecraft redefines "MMO" a bit, but doesn't fit the core definition (it isn't really massive).
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
