Looking for some advice

Postby Lorcian » Fri Nov 25, 2011 1:49 am

So me and a few friends started a small settlement, hoping to make it into a village eventually.
We got ourselves set up with protection for our level of play, pallisade and after a while fully p.claimed.
Each had our own houses and got nicely set up with a farm and all the basic essentials.

So since we still needed a village idol i went out of my way to get lawspeaking, which i managed to get yesturday after a while of pumping all the LP i got into the claim.

Obviously with the release of skyrim 2 weeks ago i figured people wouldnt be playing as much and didnt take much notice of how people had gone inactive figuring once skyrim had been out a week they'd start logging in for a small amount of time a day again....

ooh how wrong was i, so ive been left alone with an inactive settlement of people, ive seen 2 of them log in randomly a couple of times saying "ill be back later" then never turning up again.

I guess the advice im looking for is, what do i do now?

I've contemplated leaving and searching for a village myself, but im quite attatched to the place now, being the only farmer i built up a really nice farm, and put alot of effort into the running of the settlement, not only that its based in a really rich area with most things we would need to survive and play the game well.
I'm very much in 2 minds about what to do, and wondered if anyone else had been in a similar situation and could offer advice.

TL;DR: Rest of settlement inactive, put loads of effort into making nice place, what do?

if it were me, I'd continue working on that settlement, destroy the hf of the innactives(if they're sleeping take out thier beds also and put a fire sign where they were) and just work the settlement as a hermit. as a farmer you're probably full nature, this means if you plan on working on things that aren't related to nature you'll need to make a 2nd character to be full nature(just feed it curios and watch it grow) and you'll be fine on your own...unless you meet a few random noobs in your area and feel brave enough to let them join you

If you really love your place recruit more villagers to help you . Do it in game by asking hermits or go big and do it on the forums. If you think its to much work and not worth it join a village that you can farm in.
Good luck at what ever you decide :)

Beyond all that get rid of the giant sig pic, the mods will make you eventually anyway. and yes, go the hermit route, just scale things back to your personal needs.

It can be sad and lonely at times but it is fun to stay close to the land you've built up and that you're attached to. I've always found it more meaningful but that's just me. I'd say, if you plan on inviting others over at some point and don't mind a bit of loneliness, go ahead and stay with it. If being alone is too much to bear, as it so often is, move on and find green pastures.

just a note on top of what he said, with those minimum numbers you'll want a flask/waterskin and atleast 2 buckets of water when you start...good way to get extra stats though, and breaking stuff relieves stress so have fun

also since you're making a hunter alt you could make a bear cape(if you can find a bear, I think they've gone extinct) and that should add a good bit of strength as well if you have enough survival not to softcap the fur too much(hunter) and enough psyche not to softcap the actual cape too much(crafter)

I would be interested in joining you. I am a super successful hermit, lol. In this world and the last I have farmed a big farm, made great food, and maintained a mine. I play almost every day and usually just do it alone because peeps leave or turn on you! You sound like someone I would like to play with!!!
