How do I find animles

I know this has been asked before multiple times, but I've searched for about 3-4 hours well making some stuff for rabbits/chickens and all I can find are wolfs and they kill me in one hit can you give me some tips on how to find animals.

It's obviously just a boar but I just thought it was funny that he mistook it for the mythical haven creature.

Well if it was a fox then how did it manage to kill you? They should be pretty docile unless you tried to punch it or something.

If you don't have unarmed combat >40 or don't know how to fight, you should not be attacking foxes on land.
