The growing time of trees

So... if i remember correctly from last map generation, it was said that apple trees grow faster on grassland, and pines grow faster on forest terrain... is that still true?

If it is true, how about the other tree types? where do those grow fastest, and what is the normal time for a tree to grow full size? And does anything else effect the growft speed?

grassland is no longer the preferred terrain of any tree. there are two kinds of forest tile, one grows pine trees, the other grows everything else. check the native trees around.

will planting trees close to other trees and palisades stunt their growth?
