Nope.
First thing you should do is check the home page. At the bottom is a server status. If the server is down, then, well, you'll have to do like the rest of us and go play Dwarf Fortress or something.
You need to provide us with some information before we can tell you why. If you are getting an error report, post it. What client are you using? What version of Java do you have?
