it depends on the size of the cave, and the random placement of the ore veins

Also, i found a cave. And when i use rustroot extract on it it says "there apears to be copper below". But i cant seem to build a minehole there. So what does this mean?

A few things about building in caves:

1. With a couple of exceptions, everything built in a cave MUST have the ground paved. (Mined out tiles can't be paved and don't count.)

2. You can not pave within 3 tiles (confirmation, please?) of an existing cave wall. If what you want to build gets that close, the existing walls must be mined out first.

3. You can't mine within the 101x101 tiles centered on a cave entrance, so if what you want to build won't fit in the cave floor, you'll need to go outside this range so you can build it.

If you follow those three rules, you should be able to build anything you want in a cave.
