Mine Hole Questions

Postby kyletietze » Fri Dec 23, 2011 3:36 am

I want to start a mine hole in my village and I ran into some questions about it and also some questions in the process of making a mine hole. Please if you are going to answer these questions tell me which ones you are answering.

1. When placing a mine hole does the ground have to be normal, paved, or layed rock?

2. How often should my bee hive make wax so I can make hardened leather?

3. Are there any tips I should know before working my way towards making a mine hole and begin mineing?

Thanks so much if you can help!

1) I believe it must be paved, grassland might work too though I'm not sure.
2) As often as they produce it for you. It's a bit random so I'm not sure how else to answer this!
3) It's often wise to check the area first for metal with rustroot but besides that, just make sure you've got the materials and that it won't compromise your home. Seal it in a wall separate from everything else.

#3: Security in and out! If you can, put a village claim up at the bottom, wall it off, and put a crossroads up with an alt. You can then use your alt to get a waysign off the crossroads so you can use it from (relative) safety. It's complicated, but beats losing keys and messing with logging in key alts. Otherwise, make sure you cover the exit points with objects players can't walk through so people can't come up/down the hole and surprise you. That is mostly for when someone is actually in there mining. if it's a friendly that wants in, you can always move the blocking items out of the way.
