Strange System Message

Postby zackman0010 » Thu Dec 29, 2011 8:20 am

I searched Google, both Wikis, and the forum, but I couldn't find any mention of this message that I got from the system.
Code: Select all
Your EXPMOD raised by 22

This appeared in my 'Messages' window right below the notification that a friend of mine had logged out. Does anyone know what this means?

EDIT: Posted screeny because I know that no one will believe anything without proof.
Screenshot was too big, so I uploaded to imgur: http://imgur.com/A2DRq

your learning ability(experience modifier) increased by 22%. the new Ender's client has a great system for informing you of what happens when you do stuff.

Ender's client telling you that you just moved a slider towards either Peace or Change

Thanks for the very quick replies. painhertz, it was actually the NATURE/INDUSTRY slider. I should've known that that was what that was.

moving any slider also moves your change slider, so it was the +1 change that increased your learning ability

Nature/Industry slider has nothing to do with LP %.

if you're not full change, you're not full peaceful. you get 20% more lp from going peaceful than you do leaving it in at neutral. that 20% combines with the 3X multiplier from full change giviing you a learning ability of 360%, meaning before you touch any other sliders you should get peaceful to max.

When making a farming character, getting to full nature is much more important that that extra 20% LP. If you can keep them fed with curios and push sliders as often as possible, you won't lose enough to make a difference. After all, what skills do a farming character need to spend LP on?

more lp means higher farming, which means higher quality crops...is 1 extra low quality seed that important at the beginning? I'd rather have the 60% LP bonus

We could discuss the actual math here, but if you're starting a new settlement with no seeds, full nature is going to be better. It's easy enough to raise just one skill at neutral trad/change early on, but you won't be at that due to moving the nature/ind slider. Of course, you then have to throw into that argument the quality of seeds you are getting from foraging WWW and it complicates things. Even then, you're not going to get better than q30 seeds for the most part (because of halving from drying rack, softcaps from foragers, etc.)

Now, if you're joining an existing village with high quality crops, I'll agree you're going to need to push your LP up as fast as possible so you can actually help with the farming without ruining quality. During that time, you'll likely have time to get to full nature, too.
