Few death questions

Postby chiveicrook » Sat Dec 31, 2011 1:59 pm

Okay, so finally someone found my somewhat secluded spot (even though there were villages reasonably close I've never seen anyone) and killed my few days old character just after I decided to logout. Really profitable deed. I really wonder what's so fun about killing newbies?
Luckily I already had a palisade so I managed to inherit and start off again in decent position so back to my question.

When I died I had around 25k unspent LP, 30k in my claim and thousands in skills (yay for finding several peculiar flotsams in my first days).
According to wiki page I should get at least some of these back, even with my full change slider.
However I started with 0 LPs and I had to declaim in order to get any since I'm not getting any LP from discoveries and my exploration was too low to find any curios.
How come?

Also, are there any areas in the world where population is really low? I'm playing solo and I don't care about having neighbors, at least not until I get myself a plate armor or something so that I can survive more than few punches.

When you reincarnate and get in game log out and log back in to get the LP.

The first is a bug. If you buy a skill, the value will show up. It's a known problem and considered a minor annoyance for anyone other than new players.

Sorry, can't tell you of any. Peaceful areas are hard to find and those that know of them are likely to hold that information close to them.

HnH is in a state of flux right now. There's a lot of balance issues from some "fixes" that were needed the last stable world (w3), and the devs, Jorb & Loftar, have a commercial project to work on for now, and don't have the time it will take to implement the changes that are needed. Relax, hang out, and get to know the players out of game because in-game it just isn't worth it.

As far as being killed while offline: if you commit criminal acts, you can be summoned and killed for them. Don't vandalize or steal from other players unless you can prevent this. Also, if you log out while in combat, you don't leave the world. You stay there until the aggressor goes away or you're KO'd/dead. There's also a current issue from a fix that went in recently with characters hanging around for several moments after logging out to prevent a combat avoidance tactic. Instead of getting a countdown timer until logged off, you just log out and your avatar stays in the world while the timer counts down.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Ah, some things make more sense now, thanks;)

As far as being killed while offline:

Yeah I was attacked during the logout timer, since that was introduced I always log in with other character to see if my original logs out ok. Unfortunately this time someone must have literally stumbled upon it and started hitting it (I usually check my surroundings for potential killers ;) ). Relogged back and started to run but failed :)
