Takng over Village claim?

Hi so recently my law speaker uh "died" and I was chieftain and I bought law speaking, and when I right clicked to become law speaker it said I couldn't be chieftain and law speaker. So I left the village and right clicked again and now no options are showing up.
Yes, it was the law speaker who died, and yes I have law speaking.

you cant take lawspeaker if the idol has any villagers, i think

You also have criminals acts on? you need tresspassing, i think. Because you are not villager so you need criminal acts to do things inside village claim, unless it have so low authority.
