Pretty upset. How do I....

Postby byrdiebop » Thu Jan 05, 2012 12:35 pm

Fix this? I was building my Palisade Wall Segments for the second time, and I get stopped by a ledge that isn't even blocking my path. And as you can see I had laid stone down before with no problem at all. I mean I'm at the bottom of a ledge, one tile over and I can't build? I really don't want to have to make a battering ram to make this right and then plant seeds to get rid of the stone. And I know I could also make another corner post but that would eventually not look right and I don't want to wait another 12 damn hours. I set an alarm to wake up to make this just because last time some asshole walsed along and sealed the damn thing. Anything at all guys?

This is a stupid idea and I'll take flack for saying it but utilize the hill as part of your wall until you have the security and time necessary to complete the wall. Build your palisade as close to the hillside as they can go then shift+place to unalign your cornerposts from the grid and block anyone from being able to walk in like that. It'll look ugly but it'll keep you safe so you can work on a proper wall this time while knowing what to look out for in terms of odd obstructions.

This way you won't have to wait for it to dry since the cornerposts you're building are purely to seal entry and don't need to be expanded. No one else will be able to extend them either so they won't be a safety breach.

There is absolutely no other way? I hate to say it or abuse the game, but maybe a glitch that'll allow me to keep building the wall or easily tear down that one wall segment? This is the third or fourth time I have moved with this one character and I just want it done right A.S.A.P.

also put something as close to that gap as you can asap, from the looks of it you'd be able to chair hop that gap.

Unfortunately, that will still require building another starting post.

If you cannot build there, there isn't much you can do. I don't recommend shift placing cornerposts. Just build your new one on the other side of where your gate will go, and use it to complete your wall. Make the south wall one extra tile north of that cliff, and have have your new wall overlap where the old one left off.

Maybe extend from two corner posts so that you can palisade around the cliff. if you are serious about this.

The problem with this idea: Anyone could get to the ram and smash it while you're offline. A ram has no soak value and breaks fairly easily.

I actually built the ram and all went well. I have a good safe location not near anyone and away from rivers, so I got lucky and got away with it with no problems at all.
Ignore the dead bodies out front hahahahaha

Thank you everyone for the ideas and comments. Much appreciated.
