sorry for bad grammar this keyboard is broken, super frustrating to type with.

Backstory
At first I was wary of players but everyone Ive met has been nice and helpful so far (1 week). Today was tending my crops. my gate (Roundpole fence) was open, guy walks in, I say hi, he says sup. he goes thru all my cupboards hence the "if ur robbing me not got much". he may have take something, not bothered.
I close gate when he leaves, he walks back reopens, so I reclose thinking wtf.
I go back to my crops then he comes back with friend, breaks my gate, I go to my house and try to go sleep. it says "cannot log off" even though i haven't been attacked.
Then they knock me out, thought i was dead but got up once they walked out. then i logged out.

Questions
1. whats with Roundpole fence blocking my claim, can anyone open them or what? one point he could open, next point he destroys so not sure.
2. why couldnt I log off? even before i took damage
3. why did they even come back to look through cupboards 2nd time when they knew I had nothing?
4. why didnt they kill me?
5. why did they destroy my fir bed? lol
6. i moved my hearthfire infront of my cabin door now, is this a good idea?
7. anyone know what they are saying? lol

thanks, thought you might be interested plus I want to know what to do next time.

Taking damage has nothing to do with it. You can't log out while agro'd.
jupsto wrote:5. why did they destroy my fir bed?

It's worthless.

Until you get a palisade up, sure. Get it up ASAP because a roundpole fence is exactly as good as no fence at all.

Anyone with the according skill can open it which should be trespassing. You need at least a palisade, better a brickwall to secure your home properly.

Only they can answer that I guess.

They were probably just playing around, having fun with you. LS hat on one of them might indictae it was Dis, but then again anyone can wear a ls hat.

Hi! I was the guy who said Sup? and went through your cupboards. it appears that after I left, some Russian came through? I didn't come back.

Edit: Dis palibashed me and killed one of my characters yesterday. They might have been tracking one of my alts. Who knows?

too much mats, be cheaper just to let people take my stuff.

is a fence with no roundpole better since it make them commit vandalism rather than just trespassing?

is ls or dis a clan? everyone in bear hat looks the same, -.-

Nah, I live way to the north of you, i was tracking the scents Dis left when they attacked my town. Dis is a town, LS just means Lawspeaker, the mayor of a town.

When you have palisades up & your claim (obviously), should you still use your HF as a passthrough your line of defense? Or move it into the house?

Not really sure if later on I'd have to move it inside, since at the moment I'm using it to pass my fence (which only blocks randoms ofcourse).

Move it inside. A palisade has a soak of 25 and a hearthfire has a soak of 5, meaning using it to get in/out is very dangerous since it is easily destroyable. I will advise making a gate to your palisade, and creating an alt to hold your keys to the gate. Going out with your keys can be extremely dangerous.

It's pretty tough if you're by yourself but it is good thinking. Making a brickwall should be a long-term goal as a hermit, however if you don't have the iron/steel supply yourself you will need to trade to get it, which will mean setting up a village idol unless there is a local who is willing to trade.

Best of luck
