Guide for the Middle

Postby Vengent » Sat Jan 07, 2012 9:06 pm

I'm a new player, found the game a couple days ago and was very excited by the concepts.

I've eagerly read the forums, the stickies, the wiki, and a fair amount of googling as well and I'm a bit stuck as to the "what now" question.

The guides do a fine job on the first 10-30 minutes, and there's a treasure trove of information for the "advanced" characters that looks very tantalizing.

But how do I get from the 45 minute mark to the advanced?

My primary activity now is training up exploration/survival and unarmed combat, and wandering the lands looking for dandelions and rabbits.

I've also done a few crafting, and built everything I can, including a cabin, but seems lil point in claiming land if I can't defend it.

I'm making pine cows every 20 minutes, and found a few dandelions, but not many. Ran into a very kind fellow gamer who gave me some other curiosities, but have went through them and can't find more.

Can anyone provide a framework of the next week or two to get those advanced skills?, ie curiosity gathering, skill planning, food plans. (went from one type of forest to another and was like the land of milk and honey!)

Thanks for any help and guidance.

Did you look at:

Its quite a good starting spot, for the first 2-3 days depending on how much you play. Once you've got the skills for curio foraging, you want to make a palisade, so gather the materials and find a location to build, or find a village to join.

First try to build palisade (make sure you're claim reaches the palisade as it decays otherwise. So also expand your claim.

To find more curios: hunt for dragonflies and ladybugs. Train your exploration more to find better curios.

To farm: train exploration to find wild windsown weeds. Dry them on a drying rack and theyll become a random seed. Plant those.
If you find wheat you can make a beehive (theres your honey)

Read combat guides to find out how to fight.

It'll be a while before you'll be able to but taming an auroch gives you a cow to milk.
Hope you have a great day
