My not so busy beehive...-_-

Postby Pwny » Sat Jan 07, 2012 11:02 pm

i have placed my beehive on my field and planted crops around it. that was like...2 days ago (i have already harvested my 1st crops). however, my beehive isnt producing any honey or wax.

my question : does it produce honey/wax when its surrounded with flowers only? or does it work with normal crops like wheat, pumpkin..etc too?or am i just doing something wrong? :geek:

I'm not sure the times myself but I do know the more crops within range the faster.

Some crops will not produce honey and are not effected by beehives. Pumpkins are one. If you don't have the beehive's radius fully filled, production slows proportionately. I also don't know the max production on a hive, but with a mix of crops, I've gotten in excess of 1L of honey and at least 2-3 beeswax in a day. The amount produced depends on what crops are growing there. Speed is the factor here.

Some crops produce honey, some wax. Not sure which one produces what but i do know wheat produces honey. So just plant and harvest more because it'll only produce when growing.
Hope you have a great day

This is the first I've heard this reported. Beeswax is a "byproduct" of honey production. Anything that produces honey will cause wax production, too.

Seems like all crops do. I think (needs confirmation) some crops make it produce faster than others but not sure.

Plant lots of crops and harvest them frequently. Eventually you will get honey and wax.

Pumpkins do not work with hives. Everything else does. Crops that make it produce faster are ones that grow faster--namely carrots and beetroot.
