Changes?

So i started playing the game last night and im starting to get the hang of how things work but ive noticed a few things that i cant find answers too:

#1. Do i not getting a fishing rod in my starter chest anymore?
#2. How can i learn archery? i assume i need to get my dex higher before it will let me learn it.
#3. What is the easiest way to get food i'm struggling with it?
#4. I found a lets play on you tube and the way you earn experience seems to have changed he was getting lots of small experience where i seem to get large amounts not very often, has this changed or am i doing something wrong?

2. The prerequisites for this skill are Hunting and The Will to Power.
3. Apple trees, mulberry trees, hazelnut trees, fishing.
4. LP is gained by either discovering an item fro the first time either by foraging it or crafting it or even taking it off of a table or drying frame or smelter or steel crucible, etc. Also, curiosities are either foraged or crafted for lp. You place curiosities on your study...
