How do I get rid of ants?

So I was about to make stuff with my stone and wood when this happened:



I do not dare approach the ants because I have no idea what they are capable of or how to attack them. Any suggestions on how to remove it?

They will only attack you if you attack them or try to raid their ant hill. Don't worry about them . Later on, when you get into the combat system a bit you can kill them with around 10-15 unarmed.

Ok so I can chip my rocks and move my wood without them getting too mad?

Will they go away eventually?

They'll despawn if no one enters the area for around 20-30 mins. But ya, they won't attack you unless you attack them, so you'll be safe

Another question, the wiki says the carpentry skill unlocks houses...plows...stuff I need. But I only have the basic fence, how do I obtain the better stuff

You have to discover the objects required to make the building / item / tool. So, for houses, you need to have personally cut a log into blocks and boards, and to have personally taken a bough from a tree.
