Handling a transaction involving a lot of items?

Postby Aerocross » Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:24 am

I have no experience with these, but I assume some of you do. What's the best way to do a trade that involves hundreds or thousands of units of things like straw or ore?

Coordination is key. Large Chests are the standard for trading, get them. It should be handled by idol jumping with use of a boat to carry 2 LCs worth of items. I would love to go more in depth but you left the question to be very broad so I can't say anything more.

There are 3 outcomes:

1)He kills you ad takes the items
2)You kill him and take the items
3)You manage to trade with him

To stop 1 from happening you bring your goons to back you up
In case you have more goons than him you can either:
A) Lead to 3
B) Lead to 2

In case 2 happens the situation branches to 6 possible outcomes:
1) His goons are better than yours
2)Your goons are better than his
3)Both goons are at the same level
4)Your goons run away
5)His goons runs away
6)Both goons runs away

3 and 6 are unlikely
Chances are, if you are the one who proposed the trade, 1 or 4 happens
If its the other way around, 2 or 5 happens

In all situations you will be targeted first and you will die so I suggest you go to the meeting naked and put full tradition :D

OR
All of this can be avoided by making small trades first with people you dont know and then making the big trades
Following the rule of haven and hearth, chances are that he will try to kill you

or make an alt, trade the little you need, if he kill you'r alt and steal your few stuff, you'll trade with someone else and you'll gift the scents freely for who want some fun.

Or you simply trade with the people and there are no deaths  . Iv done lots of trades both with villages in my area and through idol jumping - no deaths involved. It is a case of trust - the village wants to keep trading with me to keep getting all the lovely bears, curos and pearls I bring in and the idol jumps are to people who have a good trade rep on the forums. I Use Bandicam to record the trade so if it goes tits up then I have complete proof and that persons Reputation and trade business is buggered.
