Defending against a Raid

Postby Kurayamino » Sun Jan 22, 2012 6:49 am

So my friends and I have a noob village and there's a battering ram outside our palisade.

Not a big deal, except that it's in a claim and none of us even have theft.

So, how exactly do I go about defending against this? The only defence I can think of is to log in everyone and stick everything we don't want stolen into our inventory and stay logged out for a day or two.

Not butthurt or anything, this is how the game goes. Just want to know if there's anything I can do about it.

You could set a palisade CP and extend it to cover around the ram, if you have 12 hours.

If they claimed it as you said, then that means you didn't even have a personal claim or village claim up, which is a no-no. You NEED one or the other, preferably both. A wall alone won't protect you.

If you had a claim, then you should have had your walls covered. Not only does this help against decay but if your walls were also on paved ground they wouldn't decay at all. (edit: and they would leave vandalism scents if they tried to break in)

So it looks like these raiders have you in a checkmate. Hoard your valuables on alts, log them out, and wait. Or better yet, just learn from the mistake and move on. Don't plan on recovering from this because they WILL be back to see if you're still around.

Edit again: Post a screenshot of your situation if you can. A lot of this is just speculation and actually seeing the problem can help with you getting a better answer.

Most of our walls are under a village claim, It's not exactly square so some parts are uncovered.

The battering ram is about 10 tiles off from the wall and a personal claim has been put over the ram, so I need vandalism to take down the ram.

I could make banners, extend the village claim over their claim, revoke their claim then break their ram. But alas, I lack the linen for this.

As for the vandalism scents, I'm putting up a personal claim along the wall.

Edit: Their claim is close enough to prevent me from covering the wall with my claim. I put a claim down to prevent further expansion of their claim anyhow.

Build a cheap roundpole fence on the personal claim you dropped there and extend it enough to where they can't get in without breaking the fence, leaving vandalism scents. It might be enough of a deterrence to stop them if they're worried about leaving scents, then you can call for help on the ICA forum.

Excellent idea Sir!
Done and done.

To be honest we kinda asked for this by building near a river. If the village gets totalled I've already got a spot well out of mapping range of any river picked out.

Going to miss the Q55 water in the nearby lake, though.

Just use an alt to claim resources. Everyone else does. If you do plan on starting fresh, do you think I could tag along? I haven't played in awhile and I'm afraid I lost most of my things, so I've been considering where to relocate to. I normally stay out of villages but I might as well try something new before Wakfu enslaves me. I'd be making a new character. Just hit me up with a PM if that's alright.

If they're still using rams at a palisade, they're pretty noob themselves. Any real raiding village will have someone that can just bust a palisade down by hand. (Additionally, there's a ton of ways you can, currently, protect anyone from reaching a ram.) If you have bows, you very well could snipe them from inside the palisade.
