steel Q

Postby ninja_yodeler » Mon Jan 23, 2012 3:29 am

So according to the wiki the steel wont change q during its burning process unless the coal it's mixed with is lower..

is that certain, I just made a batch of steel that was mixed with coal of equal or higher q, but the finished product was lower than the original??

does the quality of the fuel or the crucible come into it? because my q40 turned to q36 and q37

does anyone know if it's the fuel or the crucible to blame?

Gunnar once told me it's...

(coal q + crucible q + fuel q) / 3

If that value is equal or higher than your wrought iron in the crucible you're good to go. If it's lower the steel will be softcapped.

A little warning: I may have gotten the formula wrong but I doubt it.
I'm still ashamed and embarrassed about my last post. There are many small reasons but no real excuse for what I said in the end. All that remains is regret because I won't be able to make up for it again.

See you in a different game maybe. Hopefully without retardation from my side.

Yeah, that is the number that will determine if your steel q is lower than your wrought q or the same.

p.s. i cannot remember whether it is

steelQ=max(wroughtQ, [ wroughtQ + (coalQ + crucibleQ + fuelQ) / 3 ] / 2)

or

steelQ=max(wroughtQ, (wroughtQ + coalQ + crucibleQ + fuelQ )/ 4)

but since you probably don't want to lower your wrought, you should aim for the number Horatius said to be equal to or higher than the wroughtQ, in either case.
