Basements?

Well how do I go about making stairs to my basement and then the mining process? I've checked all the building windows and I don't have something to make stairs. I have a timberhouse, or whatever the big wooden one is, and I thought they could have a basement. Would check wiki but its down. =/

Do note, you need to discover all the parts for the cellar to start making it as well. Metal tends to be what holds most people up.

Never, ever link to the wikia site. It hasn't kept up to date in a year. A few things, like the cellar, hasn't changed in longer than that, but many other things are missing or severely out of date. We, the How Do I? support group, appreciate your cooperation!

Very very few things (sans curiosity system) have been updated in well over a year in this game. The wikia still contains 80%+ correct and useful information.
