Pretty sure that's wrong too, but I haven't had confirmation on that.

You can't die with a miner's helm so no point in getting cons if you wear a helmet; it was implemented by loftar, it's not cheating the system.

You can die with a miners helm. It just does half the HHP damage it normally would, and half the shp damage. So an l5 cave in still hits for 400, and could 1 shot someone who doesn't have much const. Though, there is very little risk of dying mining on l1 or 2

It's actually possible to safely create a 5 tile wide road without supports. I'll make a similar gif when I get around to it, but for now...

You must be EXTREMELY cautious about the exact tile where your hearthling is standing when mining without supports, especially when using this method.

SPECULATION: The tunneling feature seems to be based on how many mined tiles are behind the hearthling who is mining. If a hearthling is mining a tile, while standing on a mined out tile, and there is only one mined out tile behind him, then he is safe. But, if there is an additional mined tile just beyond that one, then the hearthling risks a cave-in.

Miner's helmet halves damage and caveins do 50 dmg per lvl (lv 3 does 150 dmg per rock for example), you can be hit by multiple rocks depending simply on RNG.

I have tested it, once cave I can mine without supports in the said pattern, but another mine that had a cave in. I can not go out of mine supports without a cave in.
