Starving babby sheepies

I've noticed since W5 when I started raising sheep the offspring's starve meter is always cut in half for me, even when full grown. I have always kept the mother's and father's nearby so I don't see why this would happen. Must I put a cow's milk in a barrel to prevent babby sheep from starving? My pigs haven't been having these problems, so I don't see why the sheep do.

iirc all babby momma milk is interchangeable, (pigs drinking cow milk etc) is it possible that some calf babbies are drinking the sheep milk?

Possibly, will put some milk in barrels.
