prospecting...

Recently, I've been trying to prospect and I read a bunch of guides.
But I'm still doing something wrong...
This is what happened.
I prospect and get a arrow/pointer, then I move towards the direction opposite to the pointy tip of the arrow for 30 or 40 steps and prospect again. Then, it tells me there is no mineral found. This occured several times.
I don't why, can someone please point out what I did wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong. Prospecting is weird.

My understanding (based on someone else having done most of it) is that prospecting looks at a ring, rather than a solid area, although this does not explain how it also finds things directly underneath you. My one experience of prospecting (in W5), when going in a single direction, resulted in [that way] [that way] [a bit more] [nothing] [there is iron beneath you].

At the place where you're being told that there are no minerals found, try using the lowest possible q rustroot. Or just disregard and keep going in the original direction.

if it says its there, then it says its not, its still there , you just failed, so do it 100 times until you find it again

if you definitely want to succeed. gather 2 bucket of water have extracts and rustroots ready,prospect randomly till u track some ore, now go to the end of the purple thing and prospect again.again an again an again then you should be ready.

It is definatly weird as hell, and frustrating when your snake mining on a lower level for it to suddenly change to no minerals found.
