brand new to the game wanted to say hi. i am loving it so far i am just learning how to build a lean to, just wondering if there was any kind of global chat that i could speak with others in the game? it would be alot of help thanks!

Don't worry if you only understood half of what he said, you won't need it all right away. As he suggested read the beginners guides in this very subforum. Namely by Sevenless and Jackard. For further questions consult the wiki or open a thread here.

The hearthlands are a harsh place and yes you will probably die. You should know this is not only a building and crafting MMO, but has open PvP and permadeath, which are necessary prequisites to have a world with lasting consequences and are more meant as tools to punish criminals than as tools for the criminals themselves. Don't let a death get you down though, we all have died....more than once. It is in the spirit of the game to then dust yourself off and give that bear, murderer or river that was responsible hell. Although nobody found out yet how to give rivers hell...

There is no more global chat, no.

well, some criminals do murder and always get away.
Burningham, I mean no offense, but this system does not just punish criminals only.

So, to frogman, be very very careful.
BTW, if you cant run away, then try chat with the person you see, if you act nice, they might let you go unharmed.

I don't know, I've based my entire HnH career on being nice and polite. I think it's worth trying =)

i mean if someone has decided they are gonna kill today being nice wont really save you, but telling a joke or interesting story still has a chance to change their mind.
