More question about prospecting

So, if I'm closer to the mine source, should the pie get bigger or smaller?
Also, if I have a q20 rustroot extract and wiki says that it can scan range 50*50, so does that means the ore source is within 50*50 range around me?

This is old information. It hasn't been disposed of because nobody is sure what to do with it. I believe it has been proven wrong, though, with the mining update that came out in Jan 2011.

OK, but how about the pie slice, does it get bigger(wider) or smaller(thinner) when I get closer to the mine spot???
Also, if the extract detects X*X area, does that mean the mine source is within that X*X area?

I have been doing alot of this lately and the smaller the slice the closer you are to it.

all the slices point in directions that can not intersect with most others, so yeah, im sure you are detecting multiple veins.

That was one huge copper vein, there we're no other veins in vicinity.
