This is probably one of the most unintuitive things in the entire game.

On the other hand, it would turn things around and be incredibly intuitive if we could ctrl+click to enter boats, pick goodies, interact with crafting objects, etcs.
If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is around to hear it, does lag..?

Its not that it is unintuitive, once you know how its in fact very intuitive. Its just that the game have zero tool box or whatever description/help should be there with the most simple instructions. Its like shift click to pick up stuff from a container. Maybe put it into the boat making skill description or make a very short description at the character creation, whatever. I hope Salem will have tool tips and help in game.

How do you figure? What else do you ctrl+click in this game to interface with? When you don't have to use a key combination anywhere else in the game to perform an action, that makes it unintuitive.

With that said, I like the fact that you can get out with just a click. I wish you could board boats, rafts, and wagons by ctrl+click.
