How to study curious items

Hi,
I have looked in the forums but could not find an exact answer on how to study a curious item.
Once you have put the curious item in the Skills character sheet what are you meant to do to actually study the item?
If someone can answer it would be much appreciated.

You dont actually do anything with it . It stays there until it disappears and then you are left with points. When it disappears you put another in its place. Also if you drink wine before putting curios in it gives you an extra 10 attention points.
