Tree Placement Disambiguation

Postby Etherdrifter » Sun Feb 26, 2012 11:36 pm

A quick question about tree placement.

I'm currently designing a tree farm (as we all do) and I was using the wiki as a guide.

"It is recommended to give the tree a 5x5 space around it to completely grow"

Does this mean the following configuration would be ok?

PPPPPPPPPPP
PPPPPPPPPPP
PPTPPTPPTPP
PPPPPPPPPPP
PPPPPPPPPPP

P - Paved
T - Tree

Or would I need each tree to be in the center of its own 5x5 paved area?

First graph works. As long as there is no object with a hitbox within a 5x5 square (with the tree being in the centre) whilst a tree goes through a strage growth, the tree will not be stunted.

That is about as clear as I can make it really.

Thanks, that's all I needed to know. ^_^

I was worried fully grown trees took up a larger area.

I'll admit I had the same confusion after reading the wiki. Thank-you for the answer.

You'll want to alternate rows so that the logs don't get locked into the trunks of the trees to the east when you chop them down (space your second row two additional tiles to the north or south). But I put three spaces between each tree, not two.

I personally put 4 empty tile in between each trees, some of the biggest trees will be stuck with 3, so if you plan on growing those be careful, if you use firs, mulberry and birch i think you'll be ok with your 1 graph, but if i was you i wouldn't risk, and its also good to have a space you can walk to.
