Wild Wheat Harvesting

Postby Phox2 » Wed Oct 07, 2009 1:24 am

Hello everyone, I'm new, but I've gotten most of the game mechanics down, and I'm trying to have my character learn some basic skills for survival until i tackle land and houses. There are a few things which i just can't find answers to:

For one thing, how do i harvest wild wheat (for grain and straw)? I've located a patch or two of what seems to be golden, wheat stalks, but right clicking it (even with farming skill) yields nothing.
Another thing is how do i start killing animals?
Claiming land, i got the gist of in fiddling with the controls, but houses? Fences? How are those built?

Ty in advance.

The "wheat" you see is probably just heathland grass. If it doesn't do anything, fits on more than one square, and is on purply ground, it's likely just decoration.

Killing animals... The Will to Power, I think.

Houses are under Build - Structures. They're just like anything else, but require a large sum of resources. Once your house it built, you right-click the door and are taken into the inside of your home.

Fences are different. You build a cornerpost, then right click the cornerpost and choose which side to extend upon. You finish building that side, then right click the new wall part and select to extend it again, and so forth.

Oh ok, so I'm going to assume the skills needed to make the objects for a house and fences will come in time, since I don't see them on my skill panel, atm. Regarding wild wheat then, if what i saw wasn't wild wheat, but plain grass, then how am I supposed to find wheat grain to cultivate wheat, if not from the wild.

Buy it, most likely. Other players will have much higher quality, anyway.

greetings

first off wheat has a cycle that takes time to mature, so if your are looking at wheat, it may not be mature yet. all wheat will have a tilled land tile underneath it(looks like brown tilled lines)

as far as i know where you first came into the game is basically public land. i plant stuff all the time so that players like you who are new to the game can harvest it and begin to grow your own(1 wheat seed will produce 1 wheat plant tile. 1 wheat plant tile will produce 2 seeds.)

to kill animals ur gonna need skills in either in markmenship, unarmed, or melee

unarmed is kinda like being bruce lee and stuff
markenship ur gonna need a bow
melee your gonna need a weapon(stone ax, sword etc)

hopes that helps
