Cow farm-how to rise q efficiently

Postby zann0 » Sun Mar 04, 2012 8:39 am

I have a question. I have a bunch of cattle, 1 generation qualities are 10 , and 2 generation have a different qualities for example meat and hide quality 20 but milk only 5.
here is my question. What in your opinion is better to reproduce those 1 gen cows whit hope that there will be a cattle in which all stats have risen, or just wok with this 2 gen and try to rise those lower q later with different pairing

Hope my post is readable - I didn't know how to express what I want so sorry.

Basic info that applies to all livestock is here: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Cow

Kill or separate the ones you don't want to breed. It doesn't matter what gen they are. If a calf doesn't have the stats you want, slaughter it. However, any increase is better than nothing. Use the averaging to your advantage when breeding. Sure, one stat on that 2nd gen may only be 5, but is there another stat that is 20+? Feeding a dozen lactating cows isn't hard if you're doing proper farm turnover, just time consuming.

edit: of course, if you're really looking at milk production, any production is better than none early on. You can use processing qualities to help raise cheese up (rennet, curding tub, etc).
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

If you select for *all* stats, you'll have veeeeery slow progress. I suggest focusing on just one or two (milk quality and meat quantity are decent choices) and ignoring the others. Whatever you select for, though, you need good breeding q.
