Yes. I think it's the only way to get lp early on even?

Well, first you should select your gender, after that your class is very important. Should you be a ranger you'll need to invest in a sling early on. Should you choose the fighter class, you'll want to look into a sword and possibly some armor. Your class is very important as it will determine which roll you'll be taking on in experience point parties. You won't be able to kill much early in the game so it's best to bring a friend. Another thing that is very important is your skill tree. Should you choose to take on a tanking roll, your combat skills are very important so it's a good idea to get those first and then work on your stats. Sadly there are no cleric/healing classes available yet so you'll have to make due with bandages :( Once you're level 15 and setup you'll be grinding instances in no time!

Ps. Foraging? Never heard of it.

Obvious troll is obvious.

To OP:
Yes, foraging is the way you get the best curiosities even in the late game. Foraging and raiding anthills is the best way to go early on.

Start out raiding hills, get 10EXP and 10UA. With 10UA, tank the anthills (You don't have to lure them to water.) and forage for dandelions, thistles, all those noobie curios. Continue to 20EXP then work towards 10-20MM and try to kill a fox or a boar. In between, try to grab some basic skills and get Yeomanry to secure your spot.
My son, walk not in the way unarmed; because thou knowest not when thy enemy shall come upon thee.

Best you can do at the beginning is forage/cook blueberries pies, put your lp into explo up until your exploXperc is high enough to see the best curio (flotsam, blue bells and edelweiss), and eat the food that give you int+ perc stat, this mean carrots and blueberries, but they are few others too. At the beginning you raise your first stat very fast because you don't need to eat a lot to raise each stat, so the food you eat is very important at the beginning.
