Chicken cupboard lifespan?

soo... besides some stuff that has been reset a little from whatever might have happened today... i came back and the chickens in my cupboard were dead... do they die in cupboards when left too long? or did someone trespass my property and break there necks?

chickens have to eat or they starve to death. they can only eat in a coop

IIRC they can go 3 days without food.

When chickens starve, their quality is halved, so it shouldn't be hard to tell if they did.
