Seeking some advice

Need some help getting a fort up. My friend wants to make it into a village, but I just want to keeep it as a staked claim. More lp saved i guess. being 2 people i personally think making a village claim is a waste of time, what's your input?

A village idol allows you to teleport, which makes you much more secure, not have to carry a key around, and enables convenient long distance trades. It is definitely worthwhile to setup a village idol.

If you died because of a boar/bear with a key, you should just reincarnate and right click your dead characters body, press steal, and take all of your items.

Another bonus of having an idol is that someone can't just drop an idol and de-claim your land. I had a friend a previous world back with a q70+ water spot, and only a personal claim on it. Needless to say, someone dropped an idol, put up a ton of statues, and de-claimed him. Losing that water node was a hard blow to deal with.

If it's your ancestor, you don't need to steal and "steal" isn't the menu option. If it's not your ancestor, you have to have theft.

Any good hermit will make a village idol, that's silly, but that's how the game is right now. You need a village to trade since they let you port people, and also let you make crossroads, which make keys useless. Nothing worth that dying somewhere letting anyone garb your keys and ruin everything you did. SO ye village idols are a must. Imo if the dev have to do anything to the game right now is to fix those 2 aspect, make crossroad real crossroads, and village idols for village rather than for any serious player, whatever he play solo or in duo.

thanks a bunch guys. I actually just got my 'sade up and we're doing well...he said we should take a bunch of storage with us...well he tried it. went out on his own and died...luckily i wasn't too far away so i could retrieve our things. but it proved a valuable point to him. needless to say he's been farming inside the walls since. lol
