I heard there are certain techniques or maybe even bugs to hunting?

For boars : Set punch at 1 on your bar and shoot at 4. Park boat near shore, shoot boar once to get it to shore. Shoot until the boar runs, immediately ground the boat, get out, hit your punch key and target the boars icon in the upper right hand corner. Hit punch key and target again after each punch. Dead pig.

Even better way for starter players i would say is to make an L shape with signs near shore and then let boar run into the L so when it runs can catch it faster.
