Babbies first steel cruicible

Postby Panlannan » Wed Mar 21, 2012 9:30 pm

After valiantly mining deep within the bowels of the hearthlands, and then slaving over a blazing anvil to create my first few bars of wrought iron, I sought to perfect my metallurgy and forge steel.

The wiki states the wrought iron needs to cook for a whopping 56 hours!

With the crucible needing refuelling every 12 hours, it rapidly dawned on me that this was no mean feat, and would require dedication for multiple real days.

So my question is for all you professional forge masters, whats the best way to begin this alloying marathon?

Shall I build multiple crucibles and run them at once?
Shall I refuel when I wake, and then 12 hours later before I sleep?

It's ideal to have multiple crucibles around just to be able to produce nice loads of steel when necessary if you don't want to keep a lower number running more frequently.

For my personal experience with steel crucibles, it's best to refuel them minimum 3 times daily, just so that it doesn't necessarily have to be exactly 12 hours later every time. My advice is to have at least 2 or 3 set times when you refuel them, and then just throw in some more fuel if you happen to be around them (server crashes and downtimes can really screw over steel production)
