Lost

Postby bobustin » Sat Mar 24, 2012 11:08 pm

Hello, and thank you for the help.

My friends and I have started playing, and have a basic settlement created. My old character that has good items on it's hearth fire was destroyed, and he is now stuck spawning randomly in the world. I dont care if the character is lost, I just want the items off it. Any ideas on how to get the items from one character to another? Ive been using the map for about a day now, with no luck... Thanks for the help

There's no easy way for a starting character to do that, unless those are realy valuable items you should probably just accept the loss of them. The only two ways (appart from pure luck of spawning near your new settlment) would be for you to befirend estabilished village or build a village claim of your own. Then you can invite your old character and have him teleported to village idol.

Join a party with one of the people in a known location (make sure you are both outdoors, it doesn't work if one of you is in a house). IGNORE the arrow that pops up claiming to show the direction they're in, it is quite likely lying. Rightclick the question mark that appears as a party icon, and select 'Follow'. You will find yourself walking in the direction of the other person.

You now have two options available to you - if you know where the original base is, you can use the direction information to stop at this point and find yourself on the map. Or you can just start walking in the direction of your old base. Good luck. (Hopefully the lost person can make a boat, or this plan is unlikely to succeed).

How important can the items be if you care more about them than your character?

Here's what you do.
Open up the map and look for identifying features you recognize. I always look for mountains first and check them all against the mountain closest to me in game. Then I follow the river system near it to another mountain closest to where my ending location is. It's not difficult to read the map and find yourself, you just have to break off the task into a manageable chunk, one mountain at a time till you find the right one.
