Moving on, what do I take?

Postby ArtemisGray » Sun Mar 25, 2012 2:19 am

Due to problems forged by my own hand my settlement is unsafe and not situated in a good location.

I seek to remedy this.

I am only going to take what I can store in my inventory with a backpack.

What would you recommend to take to set up a brand new hermit settlement?

I have a bit of everything, barring ore and metals.

My list so far consists of

- 2-5 seed bags filled with wheat/hemp/flax & carrots.
- Enough bone glue for palisade
- Enough dreams for claim
- Water flask
- Sling, bone saw, stone axe.
- High LP curios I have left

Is there anything else that would make starting over a great deal easier? something I'm forgetting?

Thanks

dreams for a palisade? might wanna revise that one ;)

sounds pretty good aside from that though, so long as you can get a hold of the leather for a palisade quickly
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

Oh, hahaha. I forgot they don't need dreams.

That would be for my claim! doh!

Thanks. I'm confident the leather won't be a problem.

You should take everything you need for an immediate personal claim imo.

Bring the seedbags, atleast 1 seed of each crop, all your tools, some food, nom your curios and bring enough materials for a pali minus the wood. Once you get there find some taproot and make a dreamcatcher and set up a claim. The world depending on where you are is fairly sparsely populated so it's hard to accidentally bump into someone in the 15 minutes it takes to get enough dreams for a claim. While the dreams are being collected, scout your area out real good and make sure that there are no settlements in your near vicinity.

Thanks.

In regards to nearby settlements, how far away should I be from them?

Say, a full zoomed out enders mini map sort of distance? two?

Make sure you're carrying the saw (to save an inventory space), and the fishing rod if you're taking one. If you only have a q10 stone axe, chuck it out, you can make a new one any time.

If you're going by boat, it's probably worth taking some ropes with you for your new palisade - they take up space, but it doesn't matter so much if they get lost on the way. Obviously if you're breaking your hf and going where the wind blows you, that won't work. I might take one dream, to make it quicker to make a new claim. Would depend how good my curios were, really.

looking at some of the responses to come up with a more concise response, take anything essential or semi-essential (like curios and food) that can't be foraged at a new area for example there's no point taking a full inventory of dragonflies when you can go get 5 at the nearest swamp, whereas you might wanna take your tin soldiers, as an example
