Tree Growth Formula

Postby graal » Sun Mar 25, 2012 4:16 am

I didn't know if this question was big enough for a thread, but I thought it was too much for the simple questions thread... so I decided to create a new thread.

I have recently started my first tree farm (actually, I planted 4 trees). Two of them have finally grown to a stage where I can get branches/leaves, etc... But I was really disappointed with the Quality of these items compared to what I expected (given the wiki formula). So I would like to know if you guys can help me figure out what I did wrong.

I had Q16 treeplanter's pots, the soil was quality 36, the water was quality 34, the seeds were quality 10. I don't know the quality of the herbalist's table, as it was built by someone else in the village, but I assume it to be below 10. (let's assume it is Q0 for the time being, even though it obviously isn't). My farming skill was above 20 throughout the whole process.

I expected, according to the formula on the wiki, a tree of quality somewhere between 13 and 20. ((16+36+34+0)/4 + 10)/2) = 15.75 {-2,+5}

However, the 2 trees I can already gather stuff from are respectively Q6 and Q7.

What could have gone wrong? Is it possible the formula on the wiki is that wrong?

Thanks.

The formula listed on the wiki isn't entirely accurate, however this is completely unrelated to your issue. Trees will not reach full quality given by that formula until the second last stage. Be patient and they will grow into their full quality.

Thank you very much. I actually considered that maybe that was the problem, but I read the wiki page and some other places and there was no mention on it (the only mention was that the items replenished each time it changed stages). Good to know. Is there some ratio it has, like half the quality, or something similar?

The quality should be somewhere between a third to half of that of final quality is, I can't recall off memory it's been too long.

The tree will steadily increase in quality while it grows until it hits maturity and thus its maximum quality.

That's from the http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Tree. Not everything is on wiki and not everything is correct but this one bit actualy is.

Don't use Wikia. The Wikia version is run by some faggot who knows absolutely nothing about the game and edited by even less knowledgeable faggots. ringofbrodgar.com is the wiki used and edited by real players.

I thought the issue was that no one actually updates the wikia version?

If you stick your nose in, you can see an update every once in a while. I only wish we could get the RoB site ahead of wikia on Google. I understand there's tricks to it, but I imagine that it's going to be nigh impossible to outrank relevance over any wikia site.

/me ponders.... maybe if all edits to it were vandalism with nobody giving a crap about actually maintaining it, wikia would take the hint that the site is of no relevance to anyone anymore....

edit: I'm not sure what's not accurate on the tree formula, AP. Last I knew, it was accurate as we could get it without looking at the server code.

Thanks a lot for the replies, guys... I can't believe I read that page like 3 times and didn't see that sentence about the quality increasing each stage.

As to everybody mentioning the Wikia, I said Wiki, not Wikia. If you go to the ringofbrodgar, you will notice that it says Haven and Hearth Wiki... and also it's Ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/whatever. I never checked the Wikia, so I cannot tell how accurate their information is, but I just wanted to make clear that I meant the ringofbrodgar all along.

I will now wait for a few more days and see the final results of my trees... : ^)
