You need to have the skill sericulture

Then you need to catch two silk moths, one male and one female
They will die if they are not bred in a few hours
Put them together in a big container with lots of spare room
The moths will produce eggs and disappear
To hatch the moth eggs put them on a herbalist's table
They will turn into grubs

Put the grubs into another container. Each one must have four mulberry leaves to feed on or it will starve
When they have eaten the leaves the grubs will turn into cocoons

You have to keep a close eye on the whole process as if you leave them too long at any stage they die.

You will need a cauldron to unravel the cocoons into silk thread

You can also allow the cocoons to hatch into more moths and breed them, which is easier than catching new ones.
