Destroying hearth fires

Hey,

I'm pretty new to the game, and loving it so far. I've got a little camp but it's in a terrible location, I keep finding good spots but there always seems to be a hearth fire right in the middle of the location. Is there any way to destroy these?

And either vandalism or you putting a pclaim over them.

Do you mean that if I place a claim over the top of them that it won't require quite so much strength? Or simply that once I have the pickaxe and strength I then need to claim over them or have the vandalism skill?

If you're using the wikia wiki, I must advise you swap over to the more up to date, regularly updated wiki, Ring of Brodgar.

You either need to have the vandalism skill or have your personal claim over the hearthfire to destroy it, the claim will not reduce the strength requirement to destroy it whatsoever.

No matter what you need to be able to deal 6 damage to it. Damage dealt is determined by the sqrt of your strength (i.e. 25 strength, 5 damage). A stone axe will add 1 extra damage ontop of that, and a pickaxe 2. The easiest way for you get what's needed to destroy a hearth fire is having 25 strength and using a stone axe.
