How do I continue

Postby langer » Sat Apr 07, 2012 6:54 am

Someone broke into my room and killed my key alt again. He also stole my key and sealed my palisade. My home is not safe now. I want to move to a large village to live, but first of all, I need to get out of my palisade. I don't have enough material to build a battering ram. What should I do now?

You could (and probably should) abandon the settlement. Smash your hearth fire, pack everything you can on your person, and then spawn randomly in the wilderness. There's always some douchebag out there, but some areas have fewer than others and they might be farther away. Leave the most common seeds as they can usually be easily obtained. Other than that, maybe a few metal bars for a cauldron when you get to your new destination (if you have metal) and the leather and bone glue for a palisade right away. The rest is optional.

you should not let your key alt get killed.

in all seriousness by the sound of it you had your key alt just sitting around.

You should only get on your key alt to open the gate, main walks out, close the gate, and key alt then logs out.

at the moment all you can do it try and smash your fire or hope someone here is nice and will help you?

Do you mean I should destroy my hearth fire then log in on my hearth fire? if I log out with something lifted, will I take the lifted thing when I log back in?

I made a big mistake. I just want to develop my key alt as a miner and it needs online time to go full industry. I underestimated people's strength in the world.

When you log in and have no hearth fire, you get the options "Log in to Wilderness" and "Where you last logged out" (or something similar). Logging in to wilderness will place you somewhere randomly. No, you can't carry anything when you log out. It gets dropped as soon as you log out.

If you're able, get yourself out of your pali and take a couple of chests (or whatever your biggest container is) with you. This isn't an option very often for new players, though, due to the lack of bone glue for a ram.

Then he wouldn't be a key alt, he'd be a miner. If you want a miner alt, make a miner alt. You want an alt just to hold keys until you can get a village up to make a crossroads to exit your walls without using keys. It's a hard lesson to learn, but unless you're ready to replace keys on a moments notice, it's too risky to lose them.

key alts are by no means anything that you should want to be on.

key alts should never see the damn light of day.

btw you need 25 strength to bash your hearthfire with a stone axe though it will be a slow process.

Wine helps.

it's this issue of people mistaking convenience for laziness or "casual" gameplay, . . . there is no reason why not to have sacks . . .

Depending on how advanced your char was, it might be best just to simply start over and maybe join near other people or in a village. Feel free to pm me.
