i can't see anything in a mine/cave. what do i have to do? i used a torch and light it up. nothing worked so far.

pls help me out

download ender's client and press

You can't disable darkness without a custom client. The most you can do is establish a light radius using torches, candles, light stands, campfires, and mining helmets.

You might try the older Gilbertus client or the Arksu client. These might work where Ender's doesn't. They'll likely need some updates, though, and that's beyond my technical ability to describe accurately. There are instructions floating around The Wizards' Tower, though.
