Butchering and animals!

Postby dariun » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:52 pm

Hi all

Killed my first cow today :-D

I was butchering it and realised all the collectibles were Q10, much like chickens and rabbits.

Am I right in assuming that regardless of survival skill and tool Q the Q of wild animals such as cows, rabbits, chickens and sheep will always be Q10 and that boars and bears are the only exceptions?

Thank you!

Trolls, bears, boars, deers, foxes.

No, as a matter of fact, tool quality does matter when butchering those animals (except for chickens and rabbits). The quality of Auroches and Mouflons is 10, but that is softcapped by your tool and your survival skill, so if your tool is lower Q than 10, you will get a lower quality. Same if your survival is lower than 10.

Once you tame them and get cows and sheep, the quality is defined by the quality shown on the animal's stats, also softcapped by the tool and survival.

As to bears, boars, foxes and deers, their quality is dependent on their level, and also softcapped by tool and survival skill. Bears are usually quality 200, boars usually quality 56, foxes usually quality 16 and deers usually quality ~100-120.

Hope it helped...

EDIT: Forgot to mention trolls because I've never even seen one... hehehe. But the guy before me mentioned it... : ^)

Aurochs and Mouflons = q10
Foxes = q4*level; Always level 4
Boars = q8*level; Always level 7
Deer = q10*level; Mostly level 10
Bears = q20*level; Mostly level 10

You raise the quality of chickens, sheep, and cows through selective breeding over multiple generations. All animals are softcapped by their food quality and their quality will rapidly drop to match the quality of the food they are eating. Once you begin to butcher them, the quality of your tools and survival skill can softcap the products you get.

Improving the quality of animals takes a long time due to their long gestation and growth period but they are not hardcapped like wild animals/monsters so they can eventually surpass even trolls in product quality.
