beekepping question

Does the quality of the beehive have any effect on the quality of honey or wax?

Nope, none. The number of plants around it, their average quality, and the haste through which you collect the honey and wax appears to though.

A quote fromthis topic:

What it is,I think, is that hives work like tamed critters, they are capped by their feed history. So when you started those hives with Q5 crops or whatever, they need to "eat" a shitload of higher Q crops to bring that historical average up. Could be wrong tho, my experiences have been similar to yours, but then I fucked up and made one out of shit boards (low q metal saw, no carp skill), and got the same Q wax as the good one(80+ saw, 40+ carp).

edit:
What I wanted to quote first but couldn't find:

As far as I know, not even Jorb/Loftar truly understand how beehives work at this point in time. The code was written a while back and they haven't bothered to re-decipher how it works.

nah, you can keep the same beehives, the quality of materials for hives doesn't matter, just be sure to have a lot of farm tiles around them and harvest/replant them frequently

I clearly remembered that I've read about beehives today but couldn't remind myself where. I hate when this happens as then I waste my time trying to remind myself where I did. Thanks for saving my time ^^

In my experience q drops when the hive is sitting idle, ie there are no growing crops around it. So the main thing is minimizing the downtime between harvests. Staggering the fields' completion times would also be a good idea.
