General Questions about Haven & Hearth

I'm doing a review for Haven, and I have some questions about game and server functions. You don't have to answer all of them, just make sure you number your answer.

1) Where is the server located? (I'm in the US and I lag a lot when I play)

2) How often does the server remake the world?

3) How much time would it take for a hardcore (5-more hours) player to get to the highest tier of defenses, and how much time would this take for a casual (1-3 hours)?

4) Are bandits/raiders/griefers really as rampant as I hear about?

5) Off the top of your head, how will Salem's release affect this game?

6) What is your opinion on Salem?

7) How active is development?

8) Friends have tried playing this, and they run into java crashes at startup (trying to fix that now). Are java crashes/errors common in this game? (I personally have only run into connectivity issues)

Thanks in advance! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say who I'm doing this for (I'm new at this job), so I'll have to give confirmation if I can say who it is.

1) well overseas (a hosting place somewhere (germany?))

2) depends, usually once a year or so

3) again, it depends, there are a lot of factors that play into it you can join a village and get to that top to tier in a day, or hermit and reach it whenever

4) yes

5) most likely not much

6) oh god its awesome, alpha was cool and beta should be better

7) not at all right now, once Salem is released fully it will be picked up again

8) they seem often on the forums, however me (nor anybody i know) have ever had the problem, but then we all use custom clients

Germany

2) How often does the server remake the world?
Hard to judge. Longest world is roughly 1 year. Resets are only performed due tolarge data failure and corruption or introduction of a major feature change


3) How much time would it take for a hardcore (5-more hours) player to get to the highest tier of defenses, and how much time would this take for a casual (1-3 hours)?
The time frame is very wide and the bigger factor is how much do they already know about the game. Also defense really count will brick walls.

4) Are bandits/raiders/griefers really as rampant as I hear about?
The major faction Dis/Ainran, started as one and thing was hard pressed to keep what you have. Dis however is starting on a peaceful supergrid project so the amount of grief is as dynamic as human nature.

5) Off the top of your head, how will Salem's release affect this game?
Depends on if Paradox needs the devs more.

6) What is your opinion on Salem?
No opinion, never played it.

7) How active is development?
Used to be active in world t (this is world 6) but Salem is taking muc of their time. Also the devs are planning a major rehaul of the game. ETA unknown.

8) There have been some issues with crashes and connection errors over the weekend by a variety of people. It's not always the case, but if being (relatively) lag-free and able to connect when you want are high priorities, you'll find yourself getting frustrated.
