Often miners will abuse STR so badly that raising any other stat becomes nigh on impossible. For a character who literally intends to do nothing else, go full tradition and raise STR only. Miners require 0 LP to do their job. Realistically speaking though, expect them to raise stats like a warrior.

Imo not worth spending any LP on any skill as miner may easily die (due to missclicks when mining)

What about smithing? What skills do you need for smithing? Or should I make a smith also

Well I think that it's better to have miner and smith/jeweller as two separate characters.

Smithing -> 100
STR+
PSY+

Psy is used for jewelery, Str is used for everything else. Your psy will cap seer's bowl Q, and whichever (farmer or jeweler) has better PSY can craft seers bones which are also capped by PSY.

I wouldn't say that full barb is optional. Also, equipment wise, gotta have a bear cape and a decent pick (buy one).

Bear Cape > Miner's helm?

Depends on your strength. If you're low strength and need the help, bear cape > miner's helm. I wouldn't mine below lvl 2 without the helm, though.

Also: wine.... lots and lots of wine. (or beer, whichever you prefer making) It'll boost you enough to mine areas you couldn't otherwise reach. Why do I prefer wine? I can carry it in a bucket with me to the mining area, but there's always the option of just carrying a barrel of beer or wine down with you to where you're mining at.

Just note that if your miner achieved the status of a strongbox basher, it is best to retire the alt from that position and create another. Even at full trad, replacing all of that strength is bothersome.

Another advice. The miner should be full trad since they do not need much LP to operate at 100% and if the miner dies to a cave in or troll, you lose less strength after inheriting.

i would be impressed if a miner became strong enough to effortlessly crash a strong box, i'd turn it into my main defense character and send him to guard my claim.
The sum of my experience is comprised up of more skeletons on my own claim then alot of you guys have wood blocks invested in your wall. But even though these skeles show i am a bad player- i still strive to continue through this vile territory in the hopes that one day i will have an army big enough to find you and murder all you know
