How long does a fire last?

As in last, i mean burn before it burns to ashes.
I have been starting at this fire for about 10 minutes now and it still isn't gone.
Whats up?

Yeah, quite a long time.

If you want ash, you have to burn bread btw. You can't pick up what's left after a fire.
